The Under 15 cricket team travelled to Longhirst on Tuesday with a combination of A and B team players.
Batting first, KEVI were in trouble at 38 for 4 before finishing the last seven overs with a flourish to score 63 from the last 42 balls. Dan H was the pick of the bowlers taking 2 for 3 and Cameron B took 2 for 17 on his bowling debut.
A score of 144 was always going to be a challenge. When NSB lost Sameer Awan and Josh Leslie for a duck and one respectively, their chances were dealt a severe blow. James S, however, played very well and hit some huge sixes – four in total- and bludgeoned a further five boundaries on his way to 52 retired from only 29 balls. Unfortunately, the remaining team members were unable to make double figures and, despite some lovely shots from Cameron Bowles, Ollie E, Alex R and Henry S, they finished 44 runs short of KEVI’s total.
