High Level Sixth Form Scholarships
For boys entering Year 12, Newcastle School for Boys will be offering the opportunity to apply for one of a small number of our High Level Sixth Form Scholarship Awards, offering up to 100% scholarship awards for those showing exceptional talent.
The talent identification programme will allow boys to access the excellent sixth form education at the School whilst being supported in their pursuit of excellence in their chosen area. The scholarships will be offered to boys performing to the highest level academically, in music or in sport.
These awards will be available to boys performing at the highest level for their age in their chosen category. Performance guidelines for each area have been identified as:
Academic – Standardised score of 125 or higher placing them in the top 5% nationally for their age group
Music – ABRSM Grade 7 or above (or equivalent) with a very strong portfolio
Sport – On a sporting performance pathway, likely through an academy. Playing at county level or above (or equivalent)
Boys will be assessed as part of the School’s entrance and scholarship assessment days in January.
All successful applicants will be expected to meet the School’s sixth form entry requirements i.e. a minimum of five passes at GCSE including English and Mathematics.
Should you wish to discuss your son’s eligibility for the awards, any questions can be directed to our Director of Marketing and Admissions in the first instance on akingsland@newcastleschool.co.uk.

We really enjoy the feeling of community. Within a few weeks of starting, our son knew every other boy’s name in all the year groups and the teachers knew him.
