Sixth Form
A Sixth Form education at Newcastle School for Boys is a unique and invaluable one. Its small size allows for students to receive a personalised service whilst still being big enough to give them the academic and social opportunities they seek. It is also the only sixth form or college in Newcastle and North East offering an education focused solely on boys’ learning.
Pupils learn in our brand new and specially-designed Sixth Form Centre, which opened in September 2017, allowing them their own space for study and socialisation whilst still remaining an integral part of the overall school.
Each pupil is given the highest level of attention, often even one-on-one, at one of the most challenging times in their education. Boys learn from passionate and highly knowledgeable teachers who make learning effective and enjoyable. All pupils are also assigned a personal tutor, providing them with a resource of invaluable advice both academically and personally. Their progress is monitored closely with feedback provided readily to boys and their parents.
Despite our relatively new Sixth Form, we have seen a number of our students go onto great success with the vast majority of them getting into their first choice university, including Oxbridge and Russell Group institutions. However, we do recognise and support the fact that not all boys want to go onto study at degree level. A number of our pupils have gone onto alternative success, be it business, entrepreneurial or playing professional sport at the highest levels.
At Newcastle School for Boys’ Sixth Form, there are no limitations, preparing boys for success in their own future, whatever direction they may take.
Ranked within the top 5% of UK schools for value added to our boys.
NSB has exceeded my expectations. It is an excellent school, my son is very fortunate to have such dedicated teachers and a nurturing and supportive environment for his personal and academic development.
