A co-educational future
We are thrilled to announce an exciting new era for our school community. Beginning in September 2026, Newcastle School for Boys will embark on a transformative journey to become The Newcastle School; a fully co-educational school committed to delivering an exceptional education for all pupils.
For over 20 years, Newcastle School for Boys has been synonymous with academic excellence, strong character development, and a nurturing environment. Now, in response to the changing educational landscape, as well as the valuable feedback we have received from parents and pupils. Girls will be welcomed into our Junior School and Sixth Form in 2026, followed by full integration into the Senior School in 2027. This historic shift marks a significant milestone in our story, one that enriches our offering while preserving the ethos that defines us.
Our vision for 2025 to 2027 is rooted in inclusivity, excellence, and community. By moving to a co-educational model, we are not only responding to what families want, but we’re also ensuring that siblings of all genders can learn, grow, and thrive together under one roof. This move will also enhance the curriculum and co-curricular experiences we offer, broadening opportunities in the arts, sport and academic enrichment.
To support this transition, we are also investing in our facilities. By 2026, all Junior School pupils from Nursery to Year 6 will be educated on a single site at West Avenue, allowing for increased collaboration and a stronger sense of community among pupils and staff. Across both Junior and Senior Schools, plans for enhancements to our learning environments are underway.

We really enjoy the feeling of community. Within a few weeks of starting, our son knew every other boy’s name in all the year groups and the teachers knew him.
