Pastoral
During their time at our Senior School, boys arguably experience some of their more challenging years both academically and personally. Our exceptional pastoral care therefore becomes ever more critical and boys can expect to receive the same high level of support they have come to expect in our Junior School.
All of our staff have been trained in dealing with the specific needs within the age range, as well those challenges unique to boys.
In addition to the academic benefits, our small class sizes allow each boy to be known to every member of staff and create an environment where boys feel able and confident to receive and request support whenever needed.
Whilst boys get to know all members of staff – both those they are taught by and even those they don’t have lessons with – every boy is assigned a form tutor. Each day, boys report to their form class both in the morning and at the end of the day, allowing boys to report back on their day. This time allows the form tutor to monitor each boy’s progress, celebrate their successes and identify any areas of support which may be necessary. The form tutor also acts as a key point of contact for our parents, allowing positive communication between both home and school.
Building upon the work already done at our Junior School, our boys follow a character education programme, depicted by our Character Compass, which underpins all learning within the School. This programme explores themes such as community, integrity, resilience, courage, leadership and empathy, instilling essential character traits in each boys to support them in fulfilling happy and successful lives in school and beyond.
Exceptional pastoral care to ensure all boys’ needs are met.
Pastoral care is second to none at NSB. Teachers and staff are very responsive and sensitive to both parents and boys
