Pastoral

During their time at our Senior School, pupils arguably experience some of their more challenging years both academically and personally. Our exceptional pastoral care therefore becomes ever more critical and pupils can expect to receive the same high level of support they have come to expect in our Junior School. All of our staff have been trained in dealing with the specific needs within the age range.

In addition to the academic benefits, our small class sizes allow each pupil to be known to every member of staff and create an environment where pupils feel able and confident to receive and request support whenever needed.

Whilst pupils get to know all members of staff – both those they are taught by and even those they don’t have lessons with – every child is assigned a form tutor. Each day, pupils report to their form class both in the morning and at the end of the day, allowing them to report back on their day. This time allows the form tutor to monitor each pupil’s progress, celebrate their successes and identify any areas of support which may be necessary. The form tutor also acts as a key point of contact for our parents, allowing positive communication between both home and school.

Building upon the work already done at our Junior School, our pupils follow a character education programme, depicted by our Character Compass, which underpins all learning within the School. This programme explores themes such as community, integrity, resilience, courage, leadership and empathy, instilling essential character traits in each pupil to support them in fulfilling happy and successful lives in school and beyond.
