The under 12 Rugby team played really well on Friday against an excellent RGS team. Despite having to defend superbly for long periods, NSB managed to win the game 20-7.
Excellent work from the forwards meant a good supply of ball for halfbacks George Riley and Philip D’Agostino to move the ball wide. With centres Josh Leslie and Will Varley running good lines it meant space was left for fullback Max Metcalfe to score the first try shortly after he kicked a penalty.
This gave NSB an 8-0 half time lead. Shortly after half time RGS struck to make it 8-7. Only some excellent defence from Alex Rye and Bobby Johnson stopped RGS taking the lead.
However, once the NSB backs got the ball they always looked dangerous and after several phases fly half D’Agostino dummies his way through before beating several defenders to score a superb try. Following this another excellent team move led to George Riley diving over in the corner to make the final score 20-7. Well done to the whole squad for an outstanding performance.
