Year 6 Lindisfarne Gospel trip
On Wednesday 12th October, Year 6 had the opportunity to visit the Lindisfarne Gospels while they were on display in Newcastle. Accompanied by Miss Buxton Collins, Mrs Besti and Mrs Nattress, they were able to watch a short film documenting the history of the Gospels and Christianity in England before going on to a display of early Christian artefacts from the North East, including the Gospels themselves, which all of the boys were entranced by.
Several boys talked about the vivid colours and beautiful artwork. After this, they looked at some art on the theme of ‘spirituality’; a favourite of which was a box filled with water made to look like fog, showing different things through the fog depending on your angle and the colourful spirals created during the first lock down.
Year 6 discussed their visit in this week’s religious studies lesson, talking about what they learned and experienced. Charlie W talked about how much he’d enjoyed learning about how stories can change over time, and the importance of using pictures to help people to learn what the Bible contains.
