Year 5 and 6 NSB Cup

On Thursday, NSB hosted their first Year 5 and 6 football cup, with seven teams taking part from Gosforth Academy, Darras Hall Primary and Ovingham Middle School.

On an afternoon of fantastic football, NSB entered an Under 11 and an Under 10 team into the competition, in which there were no easy games.  The Under 10s, playing against mostly children a year older than them, found the going tough at times but still stuck to their footballing principles, working hard out of possession and playing a passing game.

In the big match against NSB’s Year 6s, the boys played extremely well against their older schoolmates and almost won a creditable point before the Under 11s snatched the victory, and bragging rights, at the end with a well-taken Harry B finish to win 1-0.  NSB’s Under 10s did secure a win to finish sixth overall.

The Under 11s played some of their best football to date and highlighted what fantastic progress they’ve made over the year.  In their six matches, they didn’t concede a goal, winning four and drawing two to finish on 14 points and lift the inaugural cup with a thrilling one-point winning margin.  Congratulations go to the full team – Hector A, Harry B, Jonathon B, Cas C, Sam E, Oliver H, Yureesh P, Louis S and Matthew S.
