Year 2 Remembrance day

Year 2’s Remembrance day took place on Thursday 9th November.

All of the boys dressed in wartime clothing and wore gas mask boxes which they had made for the day. The boys prepared their own lunch of mince and dumplings with mashed potatoes, followed by apple crumble and custard. Activities included making bunting, flags, aeroplanes and sugar mice.  They also did a drill with a real soldier who shouted a lot!

In the afternoon, the boys were joined by their parents for a concert, which involved the boys singing and acting. The boys spoke about relatives who had been involved in World Wars I and II. Thank you to Miss Ferry, Miss Granger and to Mr Gray for his musical expertise! Finally, a big thank you to all of the parents who helped to make this a very successful day!

This week, the boys were very lucky to have a presentation from Mr Arthur about the World Wars and his relatives who fought. The boys learnt a lot during this talk. The boys have also painted poppies to remember all those who have been lost in wars.
