Seniors and Sixth Form
Year 12 Sports Leaders at Darras Hall Primary School
It was a fantastic morning for our sports leaders last Thursday as they got their first taste of running an event. The group of leaders, which includes three Westfield School girls, organised a rugby taster session for the whole of year 4 at Darras Hall Primary School. This involved delivering six adapted games, designed to develop the RFU core skills of creativity, awareness, resilience, decision making and self-organisation. The group showed outstanding communication and organisational skills as well as working hard to praise and motivate the young participants. They also showed outstanding adaptability by using progressions, regressions, rewards, constraints and rule changes superbly well.
Feedback from Darras Hall Primary School was overwhelmingly positive with the group receiving an immediate invite back to coach rugby and other sports. On the same morning, two of our 6th form leaders William E and Archie M got their first taste of leadership by supporting Mr. Sander with delivery of junior PE. Again, the boys gave an outstanding account of themselves and showed outstanding leadership potential.
Well done to the whole group of year 12 leaders.
