Year 11 Art gallery visit
The Year 11 Art GCSE group took a trip into Newcastle on Wednesday to visit both the Laing and the Hatton art galleries.
The boys spent time drawing copies of some of the pieces and greatly enjoyed an insightful tour of Newcastle University’s Hatton Gallery by a member of their staff.
The Laing is hosting an inspirational exhibition of the work of David Bomberg, almost completely over-looked in his day. The two galleries are jointly hosting a retrospective of the work of Sean Scully who studied at Newcastle University in the early 1970s. He based much of his abstract work on the architecture of the city, in particular the bridges.
