Year 10 medical school visit

On Friday 17th March, 13 Year 10 boys took part in a day of activities at Newcastle University medical school. In the morning they learned about a new degree course being offered from 2017 in Sport and Exercise Science. This course is designed to teach students the biomechanical, physiological and psychological aspects of sport and exercise.

After learning about the structure of the course, the boys were given a tour of the university campus, including a visit to a hall of residence to see the accommodation offered to students. In the afternoon they took part in a series of practical sessions in the medical school laboratories, investigating heart rate and blood pressure, muscle action, balance and lung capacity. On the way back to school all the boys said that it had been a very interesting and useful trip.
