Under 14 Edinburgh Cricket Tour
The Under 14 cricket team stayed the night in Edinburgh and played two games against local opposition earlier this week. The first was against George Watson’s School in which we scored 168 all out from 30 overs with Robbie B making 61 and George M 32. Together they put on 91 for the opening wicket but the remaining nine wickets were only able to contribute another 79 runs. In reply, George Watson’s were 74 for six before their seventh wicket and put on 80 runs which left them needing 30 runs from 24 balls with three wickets in hand. It came down to eight from the last over, then one run from three balls. Two dot balls later with scores level they needed one from one and managed to scramble a single to win a terrific game of cricket. Oscar B was the star bowler taking 5 for 24.
The following day the boys played Merchiston School in a 25-over game and again batting first we posted 157 all out from 23 overs. Ted F 35 ret, George McConnell 36 ret and James W 20 were our top scorers. In reply, Merchiston were all out for just 71 with Max R and James W taking three wickets each and Alex N and Ted F two wickets each. It was the boys first residential trip since joining the Senior School. The boys represented the School superbly.
