Under 11 ESFA city final
After making their way through the first qualifying evening, the Under 11 boys made it to the city finals taking on the other group winners from the first round. In the first game against Dame Allan’s, Tobi Eniola equalised after NSB had conceded against the run of play to start the competition with a draw. In the second game against Cragside Primary School, Charlie H’s goal proved the difference.
In their final group game against Knop Law Primary School, a penalty won by Matthew S was calmly put away by Hurst. This meant NSB qualified for the semi-final where they took on Gosforth East Middle School. In a close game, nobody could break the deadlock. Both teams had chances but both defences held firm meaning the dreaded penalty shoot-out. At three penalties each it went to sudden death with Charlie W producing a fantastic save to keep NSB in the game. A number of boys showed fantastic character to put their hand up to take a penalty in extremely tough circumstances.
Despite NSB suffering penalty shoot-out heartbreak, the boys bounced back well to play in the third place play-off against Dame Allan’s; a draw meant NSB finished joint third in the city. Well done, boys.
