Under 10 ISFA tournament

Last week, NSB in their role as a ISFA junior hub school hosted the Under 10 ISFA tournament. A total of seven teams made the trip to Goals for a fantastic afternoon of high quality football.

NSB got off to a fast start in their first two games against Argyle House and NPS securing 1-0 victories in both thanks to goals from Folu E and James W. In their third game, the boys went behind early to Dame Allan’s but they dug in to make it 1-1 at half time with James W finishing from an Archie M corner.

With both teams having chances and some fantastic saves from goalkeeper Robbie B, the game looked likely for a draw. That was until Folu  grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck, took on players and converted from outside of the box on two occasions to give NSB a fantastic 3-1 come-from-behind victory.

NSB then came up against Red House School who were also unbeaten up to this point. The boys played their best football of the day, passing the ball well and playing at a very high tempo. Archie  got the breakthrough and, after a quick throw caught the defence off-guard, Folu  made it a 2-0 victory for NSB. The next game saw them take on RGS and after a period of nip and tuck, RGS opened the scoring as they broke quickly in attack. Their lead was then doubled as the defence were caught napping. The comeback was on as James  showed lovely control to chip the keeper and give the boys a chance. However, in the second half, RGS came out strong and scored a further two goals to win 4-1.

The tournament at this stage was finely poised with any one of three teams in with a shot at the title. NSB took on Bow School and went behind early against the run of play. The Bow boys continued to press and were good for their 2-0 lead. As NSB pressed too hard for a goal, Bow executed a fantastic counter-attack to go 3-0 up. James Walker scored shortly before half time from long range to give NSB hope of a comeback. Just after the break, Folu Eniola scored to make it an exciting final two minutes. However, it wasn’t to be and the final whistle blew.

The quality on show was fantastic and only goal difference could separate NSB from RGS at the top of the table with third place Red House only one point further behind. Well done to all those boys involved.
