Trip to Housesteads Roman Fort in Northumberland

On Wednesday, Year 4 had a fabulous, action-packed day at Housesteads Roman Fort in Northumberland. The boys were met at the fort by the amazing Rufus Aurelius Victus, veteran Roman soldier who took the boys through their paces, teaching them some of what would be involved if they liked the idea of joining the ranks. After learning about what they would need to do, they set off marching along The Wall, surveying the lands to the north, checking for invaders and heading for Milecastle 37 where they had lunch.  Refuelled and refreshed, the NSB Year 4 new recruits explored the remains of the Roman Fort at Housesteads, bringing history to life.  It was a thoroughly enjoyable day.
