Last week 5 boys from West Avenue were invited to meet Liz Pichon the author of the hugely successful Tom Gates books as she celebrated the official launch of her latest book in the Malmaison Hotel on the Quayside.
Ibrahim A G, Thomas B C, Oliver L, Billy P and Fraser R enjoyed a wonderful informal evening where boys were able to talk to Liz at length about writing, her books and learn more about the Tom Gates world. With doodle competitions, a book signing, goody bags , Tom Gates muffins and a fascinating talk from Liz to enjoy, it was clear that this was an evening that was relished by all who attended. On several occasions the boys were commended for their behaviour, politeness and friendly attitude.
A highlight for many of the guests attending was that at one point the boys sat in the middle of the party surrounded by the general public and quietly read their new books. Liz made herself very available to all of the children and boys commented on how friendly she was and willing to talk. A night to remember.
