South Africa tour assembly
Last week, four Year 12 boys gave a fantastic assembly to the Senior School about their experiences on the senior rugby tour to South Africa during the summer.
Jake S discussed the cultural experiences of the tour, including safari, climbing Table Mountain, seeing Loftus stadium and visiting the Lesedi Village which provided an insight into how a number of South African tribes live.
Philip D discussed the school visits they made on tour. These included Fisaantekraal High School and the Afrika Tikkun Primary School. Both schools are situated in townships and this gave the boys a great opportunity to develop their understanding of the social challenges that many South Africans face as well as showing empathy to those less fortunate.
Oliver M covered the rugby challenges on tour and gave an outstanding player’s insight into the experience that the range of fixtures provided the boys with.
Finally, William V drew the assembly to a close by discussing what lasting effects the tour had on him and how it has helped the boys to appreciate the opportunities they are given. The assembly concluded with an excellent video produced by Mr Caulfield, which highlighted the events and experiences that all of the boys enjoyed.
