Sixth Form enrichment: studying law
By Ben , Year 12
Last week in enrichment, two graduates from Newcastle University came to talk to us about studying law. During the first part of the presentation, they talked to us about why we should consider studying law, including many enticing reasons such as the fact that a law degree is really respected by employers. They then went onto help us understand more about personal statements, and what you should include if you want to get into a top university.
This really helped me and other students register that we should get into as many co-curricular activities as possible before we apply to any university. For the second part of the presentation, we learned more about how you would be taught if you studied law at Newcastle University.
For the final part of the session, we were introduced to a quiz, similar to the game show Million Pound Drop. This was entertaining as we learned about weird and wacky laws in the world. We then finished the session with a debate on whether children should be sentenced the same way as an adult would. This was an excellent team-building and cooperation exercise. I found this session very educational and relevant.
