Old boy returns to NSB

It’s been a great pleasure to have old boy, Philip Parkinson back at NSB on a placement for the past ten weeks.

Philip concluded his time with us on Wednesday by giving an assembly on ‘aspirations and university’. He spoke tremendously well and relayed valuable first-hand experience to the boys about making choices now in regards to their future, tips on how to approach university life and ways of managing possible career paths after university.

Philip was also presented with his NSB Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold award hoodie by Mr Drax. He began his DofE gold four years ago with a four-day expedition in the Cheviots. He finished the remaining section – his residential – this week, where the youth centre director described him as an ‘excellent role model after working for 12 months at the centre and his friendly, helpful personality earned him great respect’. He also learned to cook and to develop his web design skills.

Later in the year, Philip will receive his DofE Gold award certificate at Buckingham Palace. We wish him well in his new career in ICT.
