Old Boy update – Benedict Gosling (Ascham, 2011-2017)
After leaving NSB in 2017, Benedict went on to study English Literature at the University of York.
Find out more about what he has been up to below.
Having left NSB in 2017, I spent three years at the University of York and graduated last summer with a degree in English Literature. I really enjoyed my time at university and was lucky enough to live about 20 metres away from former head boy and fellow OB Cameron Baker, so I saw plenty of Cam throughout my time at York. I didn’t however see quite as much of his alter-ego, DJ Baz! I also noticed increasing numbers of familiar faces at York, as other boys from younger years left NSB and continued their journey elsewhere. It is always nice to bump into members of the NSB community!
Graduating from university in 2020 has presented its fair share of challenges, but I have been lucky enough to make the most of a few very varied opportunities. I have worked for the Council for British Archaeology, as a content editor for a health and lifestyle website, and even squeezed in a spell working in a hotel in Slovenia! Right now I am weighing up a few options, with perhaps even a foray into teaching, but I am excited to see what the future holds. I have found the wider NSB community to have been very supportive since leaving nearly four years ago, and I look forward to being able to attend a prize day or carol service in the future!
