The much awaited final of the NSB Reading Competition took place last week on Wednesday 5th October. Students and guests were delighted and entertained by the finalists who read a variety of texts from a range of genre including comedy, autobiography and thriller. There were sixteen participants in total, vying for the accolade of top reader; however, the overall winner of the competition who wowed both the audience and judge, Mrs Innes, with his amazing southern drawl was Tristan S, reading from the opening of Forrest Gump by Winston Groom.
The three runners up, winning prizes within their age group were Joshua A reading The Boy Who Swam with Piranhas by David Almond; Fergus M reading A Cat Called Alfie by Rachel Wells and Benedict G reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. All readers were superb and we hope the competition is only the beginning of many more to come.
A special mention should be made to all the contestants who all read fantastically well:
Matteo A, Daniel A, James A, Lucas B, Philip D, George D, William D, Gagandeep H, James F, Oliver L, Jack P and James R.
