Early Years and Juniors
NSB Maths Challenge
On Thursday 2nd February, the Junior School hosted the inaugural Newcastle School for Boys Maths Challenge, a maths problem solving competition for Year 5 and 6 pupils from across the region to enter.
The event was an incredible success, welcoming 19 teams of four from 11 local schools – over 60 pupils creating a great mathematical buzz in school!
The competition challenged pupils to demonstrate their problem-solving skills, but also tested their teamwork in order to solve two demanding problems in a given time.
There were some brilliant team performances in a very competitive event but congratulations to our overall winning team from St. Charles’ Catholic Primary School.
Congratulations to our junior mathematicians selected to represent the school at the event – Tobi E (Year 5, Aldridge), Will G (Year 6, Newlands), Joshua H (Year 6, Newlands), Charlie H (Year 6, Newlands), Muhammad I(Year 5, Newlands), Matthew S (Year 6, Ascham), Tristan V (Year 6, Ascham).
Now onto next year’s event…!
