Newcastle Falcons Academy training
On Monday 27th of October, seven members of the NSB 1st XV rugby team returned to train with the Newcastle Falcons Academy. Sadly, Cole Cartmell couldn’t attend due to illness. Following the RFU return to play guidelines, the boys played non-contact games and had a gym session as well as having individual training in the afternoon.
Although the coronavirus restrictions were strict, it did not alter the intensity or quality of the training. Joshua L (Year 13), 1st XV fly half said, “I thoroughly enjoyed being back training with the Academy and look forward to hopefully participating in the fixtures organised in February.” Centre, Tristan S (Year 13) commented, “For me, it was great going back into that environment and seeing all the lads and the coaches. It was also the first time I was able to do any contact since my injury which I really enjoyed and felt good about. At this moment in time, it is still uncertain as to whether the Academy League will still be on in February, however, the thought of playing this year after missing last season is what is keeping me going, and this session with the Academy has motivated me to keep pushing myself as we head into this next lockdown.”
