1st XV progress to round 2 of the National Schools Vase

NSB National School Vase

The 1st XV overcame hurricane conditions in Morpeth as they started their competitive season with a 58-5 win over King Edwards School in the first round for the National Schools Vase.

Playing into a gale, the boys started brightly with captain Patrick C going over for two early scores. Some indiscipline allowed KEVI back into the game with a try before Charlie J threw a dummy to slice through for the second. He was soon followed by scrum half Dan B and flying winger, Jake S. Half time score, 29-5.

After half time, NSB were more direct with Oliver F and Craig W making some huge carries. Fletcher was first on the score sheet before Johnson ran in an excellent try following good hands by Fergus S. Harvey M capped a fine performance by crashing over from a Will S grubber. Stewart completed the scoring with two excellent solo tries from fly half to send NSB into round two.
