Mowden Invitational Cross-Country
NSB took three teams to the Mowden Invitational Cross-Country last Saturday and returned with much silverware, thanks to the excellent performances from the boys. In the Under 9 race, NSB put in a strong performance finishing second overall in the team event. Folu Eand Christie O, running a year up, finished 10th and 15th respectively, with Sam E14th and Ollie H16th overall. However, the headlines were stolen by an NSB 1-2 with Harry B finishing second and Hector A winning the race by 16 seconds, breaking the course record with a time of 5mins 43secs.
In the Under 11, events NSB entered two teams, and finished with five of the top ten in what was a superb team effort. Again, the headlines were made by Leo M (10th), Oscar G (9th), Captain Oliver G (7th) and Year 5 boys Gabriel M (5th) and Tom K (3rd), leading NSB’s A team to a first-place finish. The team couldn’t have been so successful without the contributions made by the other runners: Adam H, Oliver L, Archie McL, Oliver P, Adam R and Fraser R and last-minute stand-in, Paddy J-P. Well done boys!
A final mention should go once again to Year 8 boy, Lewis R – coming along after scoring twice for the Under 13 rugby team to support his brother Fraser, Lewis ran individually in the Under 13 race in his rugby kit. Whilst he was unable to replicate last year’s 3rd-place finish, Lewis’ 7th-place was well received by the whole crowd and his attitude towards competing for the School is second to none.
