What do scientists and engineers do when they cannot go where they want to explore?

Boys in Year 3 considered this question as part of a control technology project linked to their Science topic about rocks and soil where they took on the roles of NASA scientists. Their challenge was to construct a Mars rover from LEGO WeDo, connect it to an iPad using Bluetooth and then program and control their vehicle remotely.

The boys worked collaboratively and had to troubleshoot their projects, adjusting their rovers and debugging their programs where necessary. The boys thoroughly enjoyed their brief foray into space exploration and can’t wait to get stuck into their next challenge.
