By Haider K, Year 11.
On Wednesday 9th March, boys in Year 11 considering Maths at A-level and Sixth Formers who are already studying it, attended the Maths Inspiration lecture held at Northern Stage. They, as well as students from other schools, were entertained and educated by three, high achieving professionals who discussed the relevance of maths in jobs.
Jennifer Roberts, a statistician at Oxford, spoke about the use of statistics in fields such as medicine; John Roberts discussed the maths of roller coasters and a particularly hilarious Colin Wright addressed the boys on patterns, using his impressive juggling skills to convey his points. Towards the end, boys were given the opportunity to ask questions. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and gained an insight into the range of professions utilising Maths.
