Junior School beach clean

All boys from Years 3 to 6 travelled to Tynemouth Longsands beach to take part in our first beach clean for 2022, in support of the fantastic charity Surfers Against Sewage’s Million Mile beach clean campaign.

The boys travelled on the Metro to Tynemouth, litter pickers, safety gloves and recyclable bin bags in hand to take part in the pick, and got to work straight away. As the beach was happily fairly clear, after a short session, the older boys then went up above the beach to the park overlooking the bay, which sadly proved much more productive in providing litter to be collected. Years 3 and 4 remained on the beach and showed a real dedication to the cause at hand. All staff were thrilled to see the fantastic sense of community on display, and boys were able to talk with each other and members of the public about the work that they were doing and the empathy and leadership that they were showing. Overall, a fantastic 40kg of litter was collected by the boys, so it was time well spent!
