Infant and Junior sports day

Congratulations to all of the boys in the junior and infant School, who performed admirably in their sports day last week.  In the infants, it was fantastic to see all of the boys taking part, practising the transferable sports skills they have learned in PE this year, and there are clearly some budding sportsmen on their way up through the years.  Whilst the highlight is always the agility course, the sprints seem to get faster each year and the accuracy and skill of the boys was excellent to see.

In the juniors competition, each boy took part in eight events to produce one of the closest sports days in recent history, with Newlands pipping Mavor to the overall title by a matter of a few points.  Aldridge finished in third place despite some strong individual performances, with Ascham coming last.  The tug of war was the epitome of team-work, with boys, teachers and parents all pulling for their house’s glory.  In the individual awards, the scores were again very close and every single sportsman contributed to their house’s totals.  However, congratulations must go in particular to the following boys:

Year 3  Gold – Folu E (Aldridge) and Christie O (Mavor)  Silver – Archie M (Newlands)  Bronze – Oliver T (Ascham)

Year 4  Gold – Hector A (Newlands)  Silver – Louis S (Newlands)  Bronze – Harry B (Aldridge)

Year 5  Gold – Tom K(Ascham)  Silver – Sam C (Newlands)  Bronze – Gabriel M (Aldridge)

Year 6  Gold – Oliver P (Ascham)  Silver – Jock E (Newlands) Bronze – Thomas N (Mavor)

Victor Ludorum Tom K (Year 5, Ascham)
