India cricket tour

Twenty seven boys and nine parents travelled to India in the first two weeks of the summer holidays on the senior cricket tour.

The tour visited Delhi, Agra and Jaipur (the Golden Triangle) as took in destinations and activities such as the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Maharaja’s Palace, tiger safari, a visit to a rural school, a guided walk through Delhi’s back streets, a visit to an orphanage and rides on trains, tuk tuks and rickshaws.

The standard of the opposition was very high, in fact, exceptional, but not surprising considering the country’s devotion to the game of cricket. Fielding two teams, the 1st XI lost three of their four games, managing to pull off an incredible tie in their last fixture in a very exciting finish which saw the opposition need only two runs to win from the last over! The development team were unable to manage a win but they did themselves and the School proud displaying tremendous spirit and unity. Their ‘victory’ came in their last match as well when they managed to bat through all the overs of their innings.

The tour was a resounding success. The boys not only had a brilliant time but learnt so much from being challenged on a daily basis both culturally and on the sports field. They were truly outstanding ambassadors for NSB.
