In November, Mr Hallam gave a thought-provoking assembly to the Senior School about the idea of making a positive difference, however small, wherever we can. He also introduced the idea of a giving advent calendar, whereby people might give or do something charitable rather than take chocolate out of a calendar during Advent.
This struck a chord with 10DM and so, throughout December, they have been bringing in food donations to help those most in need at Christmas. Boys brought in a very wide selection of hot food such as soups, spaghetti, beans and tinned hotdogs, as well as the occasional sweet treat. Now we have reached the end of term, this food will be given to local families struggling at such a demanding time of year.
Mrs Murphy and the boys were very pleased to have completed their goal of a giving advent calendar and are proud to have made a difference in their own small way.
