Getting creative in Reception

After the harvest festival, Reception spent a few days making harvest soup.

First, they scooped out the pumpkins before carving them. The next day, they prepared all of the vegetables to go in the soup. These included pumpkin, potatoes, butternut squash, carrots, parsnips and peppers.

They made the soup and tasted it. The teachers were very proud that all of the boys had a taste of it. All but a few emptied their bowls and some boys even asked for seconds!

The fun continued in the run up to Bonfire Night, where Reception boys completed firework pictures. For one activity, the boys had to think about a design to put glue in a firework pattern, before adding salt and dropping paint on to the pattern.

For another activity, boys had to drop watery paint on the page and then use a straw to blow the paint around the page, making it look like fireworks. The boys had a great time making many colourful designs.
