Day 3: Animal Kingdom (Sunday 28 June)

We woke up for breakfast at 7:00. By 7:45 we were all on the bus and raring to go. We got off the bus, had our bags checked and passed though security. We then split up into our two groups and met out group leaders. Our leaders handed us with ear pieces and radios so we could hear them clearer when they spoke.

The day’s YES programme was all about animals and how the way we lived and built our community both hurt animal habitats but how in doing this it sustained our strength for speaking up for them. As soon as we got into the park we were given roles to play, including scientist, residents, builders and tourists.

This was just a small part of the yes programme. As we went around the park each role group was given a question. If they got this question wrong or right could determine how many coins they got. The coins were used to buy things for our already customised island each role contributed to.

By the end of the morning the map was filled with things we needed to uphold our island’s community. In the afternoon we were given four hours free time in the park where we could do whatever we wanted including going on the park’s main attractions.

Thanks to our teachers we were able to experience some rides with the use of a fast pass. After this we all gathered together and jumped back on the bus back to the hotel. We then raced to get into the pool to cool off! We then got ready for dinner. When we got back we all were given the opportunity to go in the pool again. We then went off to sleep ready for the next day.

Jess, Abby and Arisa.
