City schools cup
Year 7 football team got their season underway in the city schools cup away to Heaton Manor. The first half was an even contest, with very little goal action until the final stages of the first half, when Phil D’agostino and Will Varley combined down the left hand side which led to Phil being brought down in the box. James Harper stepped up to take the penalty and place it in the bottom corner.
The start of the second half saw NSB take control of the game with some fluent passing, which led to the second goal from James Harper, tapping in a cross goal shot from George Riley. Heaton Manor got back into the game through a great strike past Max Metcalfe who had already prevented Heaton Manor from scoring with a number of great saves. NSB created a number of further chances but unfortunately were unable to add to the scoreline, however, we were not made to pay for missed chances and the game finished 2-1 and progressed to the next round.
