Celebrating the Success of Our Year 13 Leavers

We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of our Year 13 students as they receive their A Level and Cambridge Technical results and prepare for the next exciting stage of their journeys.

This year’s results reflect the hard work, determination and resilience of our students, supported by the dedication of staff and families throughout their time in the Sixth Form. An impressive 37% of all grades were awarded at A* to A, or equivalent, demonstrating the academic strength and ambition of our students.

The school’s distinctive Sixth Form offer, combining traditional A Levels with Cambridge Technical qualifications, continues to provide students with a breadth of opportunities and pathways for success. This unique blend of academic and vocational study has once again delivered excellent outcomes, with 50% of vocational qualifications awarded at the highest Distinction* and Distinction grades.

Among the cohort were a number of outstanding individual success stories, with several students achieving exclusively A* and A grades across their programmes of study. These exceptional achievements are testament to the commitment and perseverance shown by students throughout their studies.

We are particularly proud of the wide variety of progression routes our students have secured. Many will be continuing their education at prestigious universities across the country, including Newcastle University, University College London (UCL), Durham University, the University of Warwick and the University of Leeds.

Engineering has proved to be an especially popular destination this year, with students progressing to courses in Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. These pathways reflect both the aspirations of our students and the growing demand for highly skilled engineers across a range of industries.

Sport-related careers also remain a key area of interest, with several students pursuing degrees and professional opportunities in sports management and coaching. Among these success stories is Robbie Bowman, who will be studying Sport Management at Loughborough University while continuing to pursue his professional cricketing career with Durham County Cricket Club. Robbie’s achievements exemplify the ability of our students to balance academic success with excellence beyond the classroom.

As our Year 13 students leave us, they do so with much to be proud of and with exciting futures ahead. Whether progressing to university, professional sport, higher-level apprenticeships or employment, they leave equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed, and with the support and best wishes of the School.

We congratulate all of our Year 13 leavers on their achievements and thank them for the positive contribution they have made to our school community. We look forward to following their future successes and wish them every happiness and success as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.
