Year 6 trophy haul continues
The Year 6 football team picked up their fifth trophy of the season after a convincing win in the King Cup. This is the end of season finale where the winners of the four Newcastle leagues compete to establish the best Under 11 team in the city. NSB were drawn against St. Bede’s from Denton Burn in the semi-final at Newcastle University’s Coach Lane Ground and despite the scorching weather, played with pace and energy. This led to James Harper being given two chances, which, as usual, he put away for a 2-0 win.
The final was against St. Alban’s of Walker. George Riley’s team played superbly, nullifying the opponents’ strong captain and creating multiple chances. It ended 3-0 scoreline with Harper, Max Miller and Cole Cartmell grabbing the goals. The contributions of Will Hodgson, Will Varley and goalkeeper Max Metcalfe ensured that St. Albans did not score. Well done to the whole squad: Cole Cartmell, Philip D’Agostino, Harry Dalkin, James Harper, William Hodgson, Max Metcalfe, Max Miller, Zac Munir, Sam Peter, George Riley and William Varley.
