Senior School ski trip to Italy
By Matthew (year 10)
The expedition began with a ten hour transfer, followed by the airline losing six students bags. However, in this struggle the students exhibited outstanding resilience and a strong sense of community by coming together to get the students the gear to ski the next day.
After two days of skiing, the students had the opportunity to go night skiing. This entailed going down slippery and ice-ridden slopes with nothing other than a small slither of light emitted from a couple of flood-lights spread across the slopes. To say the least, the students demonstrated immense courage to complete the task.
The following night, a bum-boarding race was held. With students competing in groups against each other to conquer the competition. Despite the cold and ice-mounds that littered the run, the students utilised leadership and integrity in the race, resulting in a tense and competitive competition.
On Thursday, the skiers went to a pizzeria after a tiring day on the slopes. During which they were treated to authentic Italian cuisine.
Concluding the trip, a presentation was held by Mr Jackson to thank instructors and staff for their hard work, students were presented with awards in recognition of their outstanding progress and character before an early night and packing was ahead us.
On behalf of every pupil on the trip, a huge thank you goes to all staff involved.
