The Under 15 team lost narrowly to Kings Priory at Tynemouth Cricket Club on Tuesday.
NSB were brilliant in the field, reducing Kings to 13 for 4 then 27 for 5 thanks to a terrific opening spell from Alastair D (3 for 16) and James M (3 for 13). Alastair also chipped in for one of James’ wickets taking a superb catch in the deep. Kings recovered to 67 for 5 but lost their last five wickets for seven runs.
NSB’s run chase was much like the Kings’ innings and at 27 for 4, we needed 47 runs from 66 balls with six wickets in hand and Alastair D at the crease on 19. Unfortunately, the boys lost regular wickets and, despite needing just 24 from 36 balls, lost their last five wickets for nine runs and fell seven runs short.
Special mention must go to Alastair D for an outstanding game in the field and with both bat and ball.
