Seniors and Sixth Form
Under 13 Rugby v RGS
The under 13 Rugby team were in outstanding form on Thursday when they beat a very good RGS side by seven tries to one.
The first 10 minutes were a stalemate with both teams trying to physically impose themselves on the opposition. RGS took the early lead with a well worked try. However, the NSB skill level and decision making soon helped find opportunities. This led to a hat trick of early tries by right wing Johnson who was in blistering form as he finished off some excellent work from the backs.
The NSB forwards of Fletcher, Hodgson, Mullarkey, Rye, Santana and Tiyur, were starting to dominate their opponents and provide spritely half backs Riley and D’Agostino with some excellent possession. From this, wings Harper and Johnson, plus outstanding full back Metcalfe made large territorial gains. With his first touch of the game Sommersall raced 60m to score the fourth try just before half time.
With the emphasis for RGS being to stop centres Leslie and Varley getting the ball to the wings, scrum half Riley took advantage by dummying and racing in from 20m.
Sommersall grabbed a brilliant second soon after and NSB were really on top. Substitues Peter and Cartmell carried on the excellent work in both attack and defence. A series of devastating carries and offloads by Mullarkey led to the final try, Leslie dummying and finishing with a dive.
An excellent all round performance from the NSB boys, final score 35-5.
