Visit from Durham University

Last Friday we were able to welcome the Reverend Professor David Wilkinson, Dr Stuart Foyle and Dr Jessica Eastwood from Durham University to the Senior School to speak to our sixth formers and sixth form pupils from Longbenton School, St Cuthbert’s and Westfield School.

The pupils enjoyed the opportunity to extend their studies outside of the classroom, to experience university learning and to interact with others from different schools.

The lectures on God, Stephen Hawking and the Multiverse and “Uploading your soul” were fascinating and were being remarked on by our staff and students alike long after the fact, with Jacob M saying he was captivated by the Reverend Professor David Wilkinson’s talk in particular. It was fascinating to see the relevance of theology and philosophy to physics and digital media studies alike, and we’re looking forward to having similar events in the future.
