Debate Club – Friday 3rd March

“This house believes that Paddington Bear has had a greater impact on media than Winnie the Pooh”

In what was an impassioned and heated debate, the proposition opened with the fact that Winnie the Pooh has starred in many more films and spin off shows than Paddington Bear. Swiftly the opposition turned to the role of Paddington Bear in the Queen’s jubilee celebrations and as an internationally recognised symbol of ‘Britishness’. 
 
Adam H, for the proposition team, highlighted the fun-filled Winnie the Pooh’s Honey Hunt ride at Disney World. The opposition team presented a critique of Disney squeezing every penny from the Winnie the Pooh franchise. 
 
Johann G is our star debater this week for his excellent rebuttals for the proposition team. In the end, the proposition took the win this time with a more varied range of points in favour of Pooh bear.
