Last week seven boys returned from a week living with their host families and attending lessons at the Institution Notre Dame in Chartres, on the second leg of the Senior School French Exchange.

The boys participated in some fascinating visits.  A guided tour of the stunning Chartres Cathedral was complemented with a stained glass workshop where our boys and their French counterparts had a go at producing their own works of art. Boys also visited the beautiful Chateau de Maintenon, where they learnt about its history as the home of the secret wife of Louis XIV.

Spending the weekend with their families, the boys were all taken to Paris where they were shown some of the famous sights, before returning to the French school on the Monday, to attend lessons in French. The boys coped admirably with the challenges of science and maths lessons delivered in French, and were excellent ambassadors for NSB helping out in English lessons.

The boys taking part have returned with greatly improved comprehension and speaking skills, and a first-hand experience of living in another culture. An experience to be recommended to all aspiring linguists!
