Year 4 trip to Great North Museum

The boys from 4JC visited the Great North Museum this Monday to build upon their understanding of animal adaptations.  Opening with a workshop that told them how to spot how animals suited their environments, the boys were able to get hands-on in their investigation with hedgehogs, otters and birds being held before the boys getting to grips with leopard, reindeer and python skins.  The boys discussed the importance of the senses and camouflage in animals evolving to survive in their habitat, before exploring the rest of the animals exhibit to hone their new-found investigative skills.

After lunch, the boys widened their learning by exploring the other exhibitions, with the Roman and Wider Cultures exhibits being most popular.  The adventure was complete when the boys returned to school on the Number 43, some of them experiencing their first trip on a public bus!
