Class News

SCHOOL EVENTS

Boys take part in many different activities throughout the year such as, World Book Day, Castle Day, War Rememberance Day and Party Day. These are designed by the class teacher or enjoyed as a department to extend the curriculum on offer.

TRIPS AND VISITS

There are frequent trips and visits organised for the boys. It is important that the boys have first hand experiences of places and events and the boys are taken out of school at least once every term.

At the end of the Summer term, the Nursery children visit Wallington. By the time boys move to Reception, children are ready for more excursions off-site and for a wider range of new experiences.   During the year they will visit places such as: Jesmond Dene, Fulwell Windmill and Butterfly World.

By Year One children are beginning to go further afield for longer day excursions to places such as Bamburgh and The Farne Islands. They will also be offered the chance to stay away overnight at Wallington Hall in the bunkhouse. By Year Two, boys visit places such as Prudhoe Castle and the National Museum of Flight in Edinburgh.

Each Summer, boys from Year One to Year Three have the chance to attend a residential at Hawes End in the Lake District for a weekend of activities. These activities include archery, canoeing, ghyll scrambling and climbing mountains such as Cat Bells.

The boy’s creative experiences are expanded by a visit to the pantomime each Christmas.

CHARITIES

We believe that children should be encouraged to think of others and we encourage them to become involved in raising funds for good causes. We have a school charity and organise many charity events in school, for example Charity Breakfast, to raise funds towards charities such as Children in Need and Comic Relief.
