A boy seeking entry into Years 1 – 6 will need to spend a short period of time with us to allow both parties to assess suitability. During this time some assessments will take place.
Boys from Years 7-13 will need to satisfy us of their ability to cope with the academic standards of our school. They will sit assessment papers in English, Maths and verbal reasoning and have a short informal interview with the Headmaster or Deputy Head.
Our selection process is designed to identify pupils who are able to benefit from our balanced and well rounded education and to make a positive contribution towards the life of the school.
Although a boy’s level of any special needs is not paramount to the admissions policy, we would need to be confident that we are in a position to support those needs and that the boy will benefit from our unique education. If necessary we would assess the level of an applicant’s educational needs as part of the admission process.
Boys enter school at the start of the academic year in which they become five. There is one admission date per year, early in September, except for boys entering from another school.
There is the opportunity for boys to start school earlier by attending our nursery, which operates for boys from three years old. Parents should contact the office on 0191 285 1619 for relevant information regarding entry between the ages of three and five.
We may also have occasional places at other ages. Please contact the School Office for details.
